The Story


About 15 minutes walk from the centre or the old town Ljubljana, there is a quiet and peaceful “village” Trnovo.
In the middle of Trnovo lies DOMAČIJA, a house for guests visiting Ljubljana.

It has three apartments: in one of them lives family Strnad: mother Simona, father Marjan and three daughters: Ajda and Staša and the youngest – teenager still - Liza Marija. In 2002, mother Simona, with a strong support of the whole family, decided to furnish tourist apartments in the middle and ground floor of family dweling house for our guests: one two stars ** and one three stars*** quality. As the house stands in the “village” Trnovo, there is a garden around the house.

We really love our house and our garden – and like to share our love with our friends, some of them even former guests.


In the winter it can be quite snowy and freesing, but it’s also the time of beautiful and mysterious Christmas, Santa’s gifts, New Year’s time, the time of snowmen, Masquerade and, of course, skiing.

We help our small spring singers survive in the cold and snowy winter

We make a real special “Christmas snowy sky”.

Santa is coming to town!


But immediatelly after the snow, the first bellflowers, spring crocuses and crown flowers come from still cold and wet ground, saying: the spring is coming!


Soon after the first flowers, also our old cherry tree becomes white, as in the winter time, but this time much more lively, it’s blooming!


“A must” every spring is also a family visit of the wonderful “tulip show” at arboretum Volčji potok near Ljubljana(http://www.arboretum-vp.si)


And, our cherry tree, the earliest in the neighbourhood, becomes tempting red, inviting everybody to try delicious fruit of the intact nature

But we also like to go out with our friends, to experience something new or to meet someone.

In the backyard, there are also Swing and Toboggan

As our children are grown enough now, they don’t use swing and toboggan any more. Now they are hardly waiting for young guests to use them.

We often go to the city centre, to check, what’s going on. And also our guests, while being in Ljubljana, aren’t just sleeping and transit guests, so we soon have a company. Simona, the owner of the apartments wants everybody to find out the beauties and interesting things of Trnovo, Ljubljana and Slovenia.

So she put Travel Guides in different languages in our apartments, but with a greatest pleasure she listens to guest’s wishes, plans and hobbies and suggests them, where to go, what to see and who to meet for having as much fun as possible. Old town Ljubljana, Plečnik's Ljubljana, museums, fishing rivers, golf, tennis or badminton places, swimming pools, parks for walking are only some of the places, where our guests feel good and relax while getting richer for new knowledge about a small country Slovenia with its capital Ljubljana. And when they leave Ljubljana after some days, everybody says: I couldn’t believe, Ljubljana is so nice and pleasant capital and Slovenia is so beautiful country. We’ll return the next year for sure and take our friends with, too!

And if it's a rainy day and children get a bit bored, there are some games, puzzles or an Internet PC…

In the late autumn comes Halloween and we dare not miss it. Do you recognise our little witch preparing to ride a broomstick?
	And pumpkins must be at our doorsteps for this occasion!

So, the question at the end of our story is: why do our guests choose apartment Domačija?

What, besides a good, clean and nice furnished apartment is so extra? Frankly said, we don’t know! But the guests sure do! For the ones with children maybe dwarfs, swing and toboggan in the garden, for those, looking for stillness and safety on their journey, the quiet athmosphere for their rest and a plenty of parking places for their cars,
for bird-fanciers, the chance to be woken up by the song of birds, who nest around the house and are fed during the cold winter, for self-organising tourists, possibility to rent a bike, for more technical, possibility to rent an Internet , for some, maybe a very fair price/performance of both apartments?
